American Airlines earns prestigious cleaning accreditation

Prestigious cleaning accreditation for American Airlines fleet and Admirals Club lounges

American Airlines is the first airline to achieve GBAC STAR Facility accreditation for its entire aircraft fleet and Admirals Club lounges, according to the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC).

Additionally, 345 more facilities have earned accreditation recently, including locations across the City of Arlington, TX; the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in Saint Paul, MN; NHL and NBA arenas; Hyatt hotel locations; convention centres; and more.

Patricia Olinger, GBAC Executive Director, said: “With American Airlines now fully accredited, travellers and airline employees can rest assured that the right protocols are being followed to keep these aircraft and airport lounges clean and safe. We are proud to have their support in elevating the importance of cleanliness worldwide, and to see so many other organisations committed to this process.”

Among the other venues to receive accreditation are Albany International Airport in New York, the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg (Canada), Excelsior Hotel Ernst AG in Koln (Germany), the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA, and Saeseoul Leisure Co (Seolhaeone Resort) in Sonyang-myeon (South Korea).

Facilities of all types and sizes are eligible to participate in the GBAC STAR accreditation program. Accredited facilities follow the proper protocols for cleaning and disinfection, implement thorough training for chemicals, equipment, and procedures, and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

ISSA Executive Director, John Barrett, said: “GBAC STAR helps facilities develop and maintain a performance-based system for cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention. We applaud the efforts of Hyatt, American Airlines, the City of Arlington, and the many other organisations that are leading the way in protecting public health and safety during these uncertain times.”
