Churchill wins MPS cleaning contract

Churchill wins large-scale cleaning contract with the Metropolitan Police Service

Churchill Services has won a wide-ranging three-year contract with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS).

The contract has the option to extend for another two and two years, and will see Churchill cleaning operatives deployed across 351 buildings in all 32 of London’s Boroughs. Churchill already has significant experience in the blue light sector, understands the security sensitivities around people engagement, and is adept at complex mobilisations.

The contract has more than 350 staff, including management and a dedicated helpdesk that will oversee the cleaning operation in and out of hours, seven days a week.

The MPS is the largest police force in the UK. Key objectives of the Met Police are to cut crime and increase public confidence whilst reducing costs, and the service continues to look for more innovative ways to help meet its targets.

The MPS wanted to make a change in its approach to cleaning and Churchill was successful in the tender process for a number of reasons. Its local presence and commitment to the communities it works in is essential in a city where each borough is so distinct from the next.

Churchill’s technology platforms were another key reason for the contract win. Technology is a core pillar of PRISM, Churchill’s workplace hygiene programme. When combined with the specialist cleaning services delivered by operatives and backed up by scientific foundations, PRISM will deliver results and efficiencies across the MPS portfolio.

Environments for the cleaning teams include but are not limited to HQ, offices, custody suites, kennels and stables. Specialist and reactive cleaning teams will also be deployed when necessary to areas such as forensic tents and operational vehicles.

Joe Saisi, Managing Director for London at Churchill, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the Met Police in what is a major contract win for Churchill. The range of environments and scope of work is so broad that this work can only be delivered by a combination of specialist teams and innovative technology platforms. This is the type of work that we love to deliver, and we can’t wait to get up and running.”
