Digital hand hygiene game launches

New interactive educational game promoting hand hygiene launches

An exciting new hand hygiene game, Hand Wash Squad, is launching in July to help parents and teachers across the globe educate children about the importance of hand washing.

The concept has been created by a team of entrepreneurs and industry experts, including skin health and hygiene specialist, GOJO Industries-Europe, together with GAMA Healthcare, Tipitap Inc, and Planet One Reality.

Aimed at children aged four to eight years old, Hand Wash Squad is a mobile game which teaches them how to wash their hands effectively in a fun manner. It follows the techniques recommended by the World Health Organization, and is available for free on Google Play and online.

It has also received endorsement from the UK Infection Prevention Society (IPS), an organisation which informs and promotes infection prevention practice throughout the UK.

Pat Cattini, President of the IPS, said: “It’s never too early for children to start learning about hand hygiene and the role it plays in preventing the spread of germs and illness. As well as understanding ‘when' to clean their hands it’s also important they know ‘how’ to do it effectively.

“The Infection Prevention Society (IPS) sees the development of the Hand Wash Squad App as a fun and innovative way in which to engage children in learning how to clean their hands in different ways, helping them to adopt good habits from a young age that stay with them for life.”

Chris Wakefield, Vice President, European Marketing & Product Development at GOJO Industries-Europe, added: “As a member of the WHO Private Organisations for Patient Safety group, we are a strong advocate of making hand hygiene second nature to everybody. By embedding effective handwashing skills in children from a young age, we can help foster a healthier culture of hand hygiene going forwards.

“Children today are digitally native, so it makes perfect sense to use technology as a means of engaging, and teaching them how to achieve an effective clean. We are proud to support this innovative venture, and hope it helps many teachers and parents across the world teach this important, life-saving skill.”

Dr Allen Hanouka, Managing Director and Co-Founder of GAMA Healthcare, commented: “It’s a great way to bring hand hygiene to life. And it’s coming at exactly the right time. I’m sure my kids are getting tired of me talking about why hand washing is so important – and I’d bet I’m not the only one. We’re so proud to help give kids a new way to help them educate and empower themselves.”

You can download the game for Free from Google Play, or play online at the website below.
