The finalists have been announced for the Kimberly-Clark Professional Golden Service Awards 2018, with a total of 57 finalists from 36 companies recognised for excellence in the cleaning industry.
The announcement follows the first stage of judging carried out independently by The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc). This year the standard of entries across the 14 categories, spanning healthcare, office, education, retail, manufacturing, hospitality, environmental and training sectors, all exceeded expectations. With more excellent entries into the Cleaning Operative and Supervisor of the Year awards, the judges job this year was made very difficult.

Peter Oliver, General Manager UK, Ireland and France, Kimberly-Clark Professional, said: “We are very proud to announce the finalists for the 2018 Golden Service Awards. Kimberly-Clark Professional is committed to driving high standards in the washroom and is passionate about creating Exceptional Workplaces. We set up the Awards to recognise excellence and inspire the raising of standards which we can see demonstrated through high levels of first-rate entries from across the cleaning industry.”
Each of the 57 finalists will now go through to the next stage of judging which, for most categories, includes a site visit by a BICSc judge during November and December. The judging panel are looking for innovation, staff training, and client relationships as the main criteria to be assessed. Judges will work to the BICSc Best Value document before carrying out their site visits, and in addition, there will be a head judge and a compliance officer. An independent judge has been appointed for the BICSc Industry Training Award, in the interests of fairness.
Stan Atkins, Chief Executive Officer, BICSc, said: “Congratulations to all finalists. The standard of entries was exceptionally high with evidence of clean innovations and achievements across the industry. The judges look forward to meeting the finalists at the site visits, and it is important to stress that they will be judging standards achieved and not just whether the entry specifications are followed.”
The winners will be announced at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Thursday 8 March 2018. More than 500 guests including finalists and sponsors are expected to come together to celebrate the latest achievements of the UK’s cleaning and FM industry.
