GOJO Industries has announced that it is winding down the European arm of its business, which is based in the UK.
In a statement, the hand hygiene and surface cleaning solution manufacturer asserts that its European operation has ‘struggled financially for over a decade, requiring significant, ongoing support from the US’. A strategic review was initiated using outside experts to find a sustainable long-term solution, including a potential sale, however it is claimed that no viable option could be found.
GOJO Industries say that the decision to wind down their European operations was only taken after making extensive efforts to achieve ‘financial viability in the region’. It is unclear exactly how many jobs are affected, and how many people are being made redundant.
Part of the winding-down process includes continuing to produce product in France in the ‘immediate term’, making existing inventory available, and GOJO say they are exploring ‘other ways to minimise disruption’. The company claims that overall, business is ‘healthy and growing’.
