The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is looking for rapid sanitising technology that can speed up the time it takes to clean ambulances, in order to save lives in the national effort to combat the Coronavirus.
DASA launched this new Innovation Focus Area as part of its Open Call for Innovation as it seeks industry help to identify rapid sanitising technology solutions that can be demonstrated in a live trail on an ambulance.
It can take up to 45 minutes to clean ambulances after they have transported a suspected COVID-19 patient, and some ambulance cleaning centres can be quite a distance from their base or hospitals – causing strain and delay on an already pressured service as the vehicles cannot be used until cleaning is complete.
Solutions must be suitable for rapid deployment to clean public sector vehicles following the transport of COVID-19 patients, and ideally solutions will have wider applications than just ambulances, such as for buses, trains, other blue light services or even in hospital rooms and wards.
Systems that are mobile, allowing ease of operations and maintenance, and are robust and reliable are of particular interest. Products already available on the market will not be considered.
