126 new facilities have achieved GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, demonstrating their commitment to cleanliness, health and safety.
These facilities include the American Airlines Arena in Miami, FL, home to the NBA’s Miami Heat; Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, NC; the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, OR; multiple Hyatt hotel properties and many more.
Patricia Olinger, GBAC Executive Director, said: “GBAC STAR-accredited facilities make proper cleaning and disinfection an ongoing priority. We are excited to witness the work that organisations are putting into protecting their employees and the public, now and in the future.”
Other facilities to receive the accreditation recently include Columbia Metropolitan Airport in Columbia, SC; Great Park Ice and Five Point Arena in Irvine, CA, practice facility of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks; Waco Convention Center in Waco, TX; Hana Maui Resort in Hana, HI; The VETS in Providence, RI; ItAll Sparta Gangnam University in Seoul, South Korea; The Okura Tokyo in Japan; and the Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL, home of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning.
The GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation Program is designed to guide facilities on cleaning, disinfection, and infection prevention, and instil confidence in those who work and visit these places. Facilities of all types and sizes are eligible to pursue GBAC STAR accreditation and must fulfill 20 program elements to display the GBAC STAR seal.
John Barrett, ISSA Executive Director, added: “A good cleaning and disinfection program must include consistent training and preparation. GBAC STAR-accredited facilities commit to educating their cleaning personnel so that the organisation can prepare for, respond to, and recover from outbreaks.”
