Jangro has taken another step forward in its commitment to inclusivity and sustainability by becoming a certified Period Positive Workplace.
Menstrual health is a critical yet often overlooked aspect of workplace wellbeing. On any given day, over 800m people globally are menstruating. However, the stigma surrounding menstruation and the lack of access to period products in workplaces can lead to stress, reduced productivity and absenteeism. Studies show four out of 10 people who menstruate have called in sick due to periods, while many experience a loss of productivity over multiple days each cycle.
Recognising these challenges, Jangro has joined the Period Positive Workplace (PPW) initiative, a global movement dedicated to advancing menstrual equity in professional spaces. By providing access to period products in workplace washrooms, Jangro is helping to normalise conversations about menstrual health and ensure no one’s productivity or wellbeing is hindered due to a lack of resources.
Workplaces that support menstrual health report numerous benefits, including reduced absenteeism, increased productivity and enhanced employee morale. Businesses that invest in providing period products and fostering a culture of openness around menstrual health often see higher retention rates and improved workplace satisfaction.
Joanne Gilliard, Jangro CEO, said: “Periods are a natural part of life, and addressing the needs of menstruating employees by providing period products in workplace washrooms is a simple yet effective step towards creating more inclusive and equitable workplaces.
“As a certified Period Positive Workplace, we’re proud to take meaningful action to support menstrual equity, reduce stigma and ensure our team members have what they need to thrive. We now want to encourage more businesses in our sector and beyond to join the PPW coalition.”
