With ESG and sustainability now accounting for up to 40% of the weighting of tenders, it’s no longer an add-on or an afterthought but is at the forefront of decision-makers’ minds.
The drive and commitment to the environment and social impact are cascading down from the end client. The rise of ‘greenwashing’ has meant that customers want information at a more forensic level, and companies can no longer get away with just branding products as Eco. The client wants to know the data that sits behind the claims, where the raw material came from, how much renewable energy is used in production, does it harm aquatic life. They need clear visual reporting on the environmental impact of their purchasing decisions.
Companies that aren’t embracing a truly sustainable and audited supply chain with Lime Sustainable Supplies will find themselves losing out to their competitors. True sustainable transparency sits at the core of retaining and winning new business.
Our innovative sustainable supply chain allows customers to make sustainable purchasing decisions based on transparent information and full supply chain auditing to combat greenwashing. We categorise products in three eco levels, measured by leaf icons with clearly displayed eco criteria with up to 15 different measurements. Our products undergo full independent lifecycle assessments and carbon footprints to guarantee unbiased results.
We use the carbon footprint of each product to compare to an industry-standard product so we can show Scope 4 carbon reduction savings, and up to three products can be compared side by side on our portal. Our sustainable customer retention programme plants trees and offsets carbon linked to sustainable purchasing, to help improve purchasing behaviour. All key sustainable metrics are included in a monthly visual ESG report that can be run by business or individual delivery locations, so customers can measure, analyse and improve.
We deliver the essential environmental information our customers need to truly understand their environmental impact. All data is tracked on monthly, YTD and Lifetime figures.
- Breakdown of products bought in the three transparent sustainable categories.
- Scope 4 carbon savings by CO2 KGs based on purchasing activity.
- Origin of manufacture tracking of all products by UK, Europe and the Rest of World.
- Single-use plastic savings by KGs on products.
- Trees planted on customer’s behalf when they buy sustainably.
- Carbon offset on customer’s behalf when they buy sustainably.
- Last four carbon offset projects invested in on customer’s behalf.
- Percentage of living wage in the extended supply chain.
We’ve already had a significant impact on behalf of our customers:
- Planting over 5300 trees through Ecologi linked to sustainable purchasing.
- Achieving Scope 4 savings of over 98,000kgs of CO2 by sustainable purchasing.
- Offsetting over 250 metric tonnes of CO2 through VCS & Gold standard certified programmes.
By empowering our customers to buy more sustainably using fully transparent data, we can have a significant impact on the wider environment while helping our customers retain and win new business on their Green credentials.
