Eric Hill Memorial Award for South Thames Colleges Group

WCEC’s Eric Hill Memorial Award 2021 goes to South Thames Colleges Group

This year, the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners (WCEC) is acknowledging South Thames Colleges Group for having the highest exam success rate for the City & Guilds ‘Practical Cleaning Skills’ course, and has presented it with the Eric Hill Memorial Award.

The Eric Hill Memorial Award, named after the WCEC’s founder, is made annually, and has been presented since 1992. It is conferred to outstanding training providers in association with the City and Guilds Institute. The award is given nationally, for outstanding performance in a variety of cleaning science, principles and cleaning supervision City & Guilds courses that seek to improve standards within the cleaning industry.

The South Thames Colleges Group comprises four colleges in South London. The 2021 award was received on its behalf by Mrs Eryl Hipwell, Deputy Head of the School for Workforce Training, at the WCEC’s Court Meeting on 9 November 2021, held at The Armourers Hall.

Gary Fage, Master of the WCEC said: “Now, when professional and development and quality are at the forefront of the cleaning industry more than ever before, we are delighted to present the Eric Hill Memorial Award to South Thames Colleges Group for their contribution to excellence in cleaning. The high standard of their training has resulted in an impressive success rate among their City & Guilds candidates. Their contribution can only further enhance the cleaning industry’s performance going forward.”
