Much Ado about Cleaning: Incentive wins contract renewal with RSC

Incentive FM has renewed its contract with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), the world’s best-known theatre company.

Extending their relationship for another three years, the renewal will take Incentive’s partnership with the RSC to nine years. Everything the RSC does begins at their workshops and theatres, situated in the historical destination of Stratford-Upon-Avon, and then shared around the world.

Incentive FM’s Destination & Heritage sector will continue to be responsible for providing a range of services including cleaning and security to the client team, the actors, and the audiences who all frequent the RSC’s amazing spaces.

The impact of the recent pandemic presented an opportunity for Incentive FM and the RSC to work together and create, construct, and manage an outdoor theatre that enabled the works of Shakespeare to continue to be shared at a time where there was very little positivity and creativity in the world.

The wider estate outside of the main theatres includes several Heritage buildings that have their own unique and exciting characteristics, and the Incentive FM team prepare and maintain these buildings to enhance the experience for everyone who visits.

The team are also integral to the safe delivery of performances, whilst ensuring that security protocols are sympathetically managed as audiences arrive and leave the theatres. They’re also responsible for Fire Officer duties during some of the spectacular performances that involve pyrotechnics.

Claire Rumsey, Director at Incentive FM, said: “The team has such a connection with this contract and the importance of their role in delivering the clients’ vision that ‘Shakespeare should be accessible to all’. It’s a vital part of their community and they’re proud to be a part of the team, it really shines through.”

Chris O’Brien, Director of Estates and IT at the RSC, added: “Incentive FM continues to drive improvements within the delivery of services across the Estate, and we are very happy to have renewed our contract to further strengthen our already successful partnership.”
