Simply Washrooms becomes B Corp certified

Workplace hygiene and washroom services provider Simply Washrooms has announced it has become B Corp certified.

In recognition of its drive for environmental and social responsibility, it joins a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit.

Andrew Shelley, Managing Director at Simply Washrooms, commented: “We’re unbelievably proud to have achieved the status of a Certified B Corp. In getting to this point, we’ve worked extremely hard to ensure we meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

Certified by B Lab, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, the accreditation demonstrates how Simply Washrooms has met rigorous social and environmental standards which represents its commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit – building a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

It covers five key impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity, and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, the company will legally embed their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles.

Simply Washrooms is now part of a community of 6,279 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises over 1,100 companies and include well-known brands such as The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole.
