The first Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners' (WCEC) Court Luncheon of the year was held in the City of London on 2 July 2021, their first live event since February 2020.
There might have been much fewer attendees, but every one of them was delighted to be able to convene in person at the WCEC’s first Court Luncheon since the pandemic began.
It was the WCEC’s first cautious step in returning to a situation resembling normal as the Court meeting and lunch took place at Glaziers Hall. The event was well received by all attending WCEC members: guests were required to wear masks, and there were no more than six people at a table – 62 guests in total.
John Shonfeld, Master of the WCEC, said: “While we were limited to fewer guests than normal, we were able to have a strong enough gathering, observing all covid-secure rules. It was very refreshing for us to be together once again, even though technology has allowed us to keep in touch over the most challenging periods of the pandemic. I cannot thank the organisers enough for their efforts to make our Court Luncheon a reality.”
The next scheduled WCEC event will be the official installation ceremony of the incoming Master, Gary Fage, on 17 September 2021.
