Record visitors for The Cleaning Show 2019

Record visitors for The Cleaning Show 2019

The organisers of The Cleaning Show have reported that attendee numbers for the 2019 exhibition at ExCeL in London exceeded 7000, with a 26% increase in visitors when compared to the 2017 show.

They also reported that the number of foreign visitors increased yet again, and that representatives from 45 different countries attended the three-day expo.

Stan Atkins, Chair of the British Cleaning Council (BCC), which co-produces the show, said: “To experience growth in visitor numbers by over 25% is a remarkable achievement, especially in these economically challenging and politically uncertain times for our industry.

“The increased number of both international delegates and international exhibitors was also very encouraging, and the show is clearly now a truly global trade event attracting a high-quality audience from every corner of the world.”

The BCC believes that events like the Window Cleaning World Cup, special areas like The Carpet Cleaning Village, The Resource Management Zone and The Green Zone contributed to the show’s international appeal. They also revealed that re-locating the biennial show from Birmingham to London in 2015 has been a very difficult decision at the time due to the potential commercial risk, but the subsequent success has vindicated the decision.

BCC Deputy Chair, Paul Thrupp, said: “I remember when the then Council Chair, Doug Cooke, talked about how the change of venue was designed to boost visitor and exhibitor numbers, with a particular emphasis on attracting more global brands and international delegates.

“Fast-forward to 2019 and ExCeL now seems like The Cleaning Show’s natural home. It is also now firmly established as one of the industry’s most important events anywhere in the world. If we’d stayed put in Birmingham, I don’t think that would have been the case.”

The increased success is also impressive as it now alternates with the Manchester Cleaning Show, in a regional edition of The Cleaning Show.
